How do I start?

Just come to the studio and take a class. First class is always free! We want want you to feel 100% comfortable. If it’s not for you then no worries. If you take a FREE class you are not obligated to sign up for the month.

What kind of shoes do I need to wear?

Normally ballroom shoes are ideal. For our classes however we believe in comfort. If you are a first time dancer you should wear shoes with low tread on the bottom that have ankle support. Trust me when I say comfort is our number one concern. As you become more serious about social dancing we have suggestions to where you get your first pair of dance shoes.

Do I have to wait for the beginning of the month to sign up for a class?

No you do not have to wait. All classes are open session. Though we suggest you to wait, we never discourage you joining mid month either. We make dance accessible to anyone and everyone.  Note: If you do join mid month be prepared to be challenged. We are happy to answer any questions you may have after class.

Why should I take classes at a studio verse a nightclub?

In a studio we focus on leading and following technique. We pay attention to detail and take our time to train you. Now, I am not saying that nightclubs are bad however they teach quick patterns and are geared towards more of just the social aspect of the scene. Without knowing the fundamentals that you learn in a studio, clubs classes can become frustrating.

I’m intimidated of the Nightclubs. Where can I practice?

Socials, socials, socials! The LAI throws their monthly social every first Friday of the month. We also work with other groups that host similar events. These events are ideal because you are dancing with people at your level AND you will find that strong dancers from the scene will also attend these events. Because there is no alcohol served at these events you will meet other people who are there for the love of dance! Further more, socials run about $5 with a DJ and about $10 with live music. On a Saturday night a club cover charge can cost up to $15 to get into.

How can I hear about upcoming events?

This is an easy one. Sign up for our emailing list. On the top of the home page of the site you will find a sign in area. Enter your name, email and click the button.

How long are your sessions?

Our sessions start at the beginning of the month and finishes at the end of the month.

How long are your classes?

Our classes run for no shorter than one hour in length.

Do you offer a break in between the class?

We only offer a break for workshops that are two hours or more in length. There are no break for a sixty minute classes.

Do I have to pay extra for months that have five weeks?

Not at all. If you sign up for our monthly classes we include the extra week at no additional charge.

Do you offer drop in’s?

Yes we do but you save money by signing up for a month session.

If I sign up for a month session and miss a class how can I make it up?

If you miss a class you may attend another class at a different time within the same month. However, we are not At&t. classes are not rolled over into the next month.

If my significant and I want to take a private together will that cost extra?

Not at all. Our prices of privates caters to couples as well as one on one with the instructors.

Can I book a private with the opposite gender?

The experience is for you! We will make it happen.

Can you find me someone to practice with?

If you are looking for someone just to practice with it would be the same as a private. Remember, the private is tailored for you. Not only do we teach you but we also practice with you as well! *Prices are increased when two instructors are present at a session.

I want to take my dancing to the next level. What should I do?

Join a dance team. Teams are a great way to push your skills. The LAI currently has two teams that trains two nights a week. Auditions are held twice a year.
